PhD Award for Daniel RiedelAward, News
Dr. Daniel Riedel, joint Postdoc in the teams of Richard Warburton and Patrick Maletinsky and PhD student in the SNI’s PhD School until December 2017, received the Swiss Nanotechnology PhD Prize 2018 sponsored by the Hightech Zentrum Aargau. He received the award for his publication in Physical Review X about the improvement of the quality of photons generated by a quantum system.
The PhD Prize is awarded by the Swiss Micro & Nanotechnology Network during the Swiss NanoConvention (SNC) to PhD students for excellent scientific first-author publications in the field of nanotechnology and nanoscience. This year BASF AG, Bühler AG, the Hightech Zentrum Aargau, Sensirion AG, and Carl Zeiss AG sponsored five PhD Prizes awards. More information about the PhD Prize
This year at the SNC 2018, a prize for the best startup in nanotechnology was announced for the first time. Resistell won this prize thanks to a convincing presentation and an innovative approach. Resistell has developed a device for the detection of antibiotic resistant pathogenic bacteria. The test is based on tiny movement of bacteria, does not require cultivation, and provide fast and reliable recommendation of the appropriate antibiotic. More information about Resistell
